An empty mind is a devil’s workshop…is what is taught to many a young child..
Is the empty mind indeed the devil’s workshop?? Let’s try and psychologically dissect this quote…to determine if the devil can indeed be found within ;-)
Man operates through thoughts… There is no other way to spur him into action..
For ex…
Oh… I need to clear the bills.. He logs on and pays his bill..
I need to go to a particular…is the thought… and then follows the plan..

Fill in your thoughts!!

The above thoughts can be classified as action oriented and spiritual(positive) respectively..
Now focusing on the other extreme..
I need to screw his happiness…
I need to cheat my way to qualify…
These thoughts are simply grey or Negative…
It also indicates a mind buzzing with thoughts…positive or negative are attributes that get labelled to the act arising out of the thought…the Mind however is abuzz with thoughts…
Some thoughts may be Godly.. Some may put the Devil to shame as well..
With this background.. can a mind bereft of thoughts… in other words empty…ever ever qualify to be the devil’s workshop!!
A mind so delicately balanced, at the peak of tranquility, at bliss, a total emptiness, a total void… which has risen above qualities of the  positive and negative…can only merge into existential bliss…the all encompassing…
Perhaps young tender minds can skip this grossly ill framed quote…

Very true and well said karthik. A mind devoid of any thoughts can experience bliss, and that is exactly what we try to achieve out of meditation..
I wonder why this quote was quoted in the first place..
    Well written karthik ?
